With steady incoming orders, most Taiwan network-equipment makers expect their sales to remain relatively strong in the first quarter of this year despite off-peak seasonal effects, according to sources at the makers.
Wireless broadband products and converged devices that integrate Internet functionality and multimedia applications are likely to be mainstream products for Taiwan-based network-equipment makers in 2008, the sources noted.
Gemtek Technology, for instance, expects to receive more orders from telecom clients in the first quarter, with its shipments of WiMAX devices and IP set-top boxes to increase substantially as compared to the fourth quarter of 2007, according to sources at the company.
Sercomm and Cameo Communications both claimed that orders for the first quarter have remained steady, expecting their first-quarter revenues to be on par with those of the fourth quarter of 2007.
Accton Technology, which saw its revenues hit a 12-month high at NT$1.46 billion (US$45 million) in December 2007, is yet to project sales for the first quarter.
